Strength Training Produces Profound Effects in Kids!
Georgia Hahn does Slow Burn
Strength training for children was once thought to be dangerous and unproductive. Scientific research performed over the past decade indicates otherwise. In fact, the benefits for the child (8+ years) include:
Increased muscular strength
Enhanced bone density
Greater resistance to injury
Superior athletic performance
Decreased body fat
More self confidence and self esteem
Improved muscular and cardiovascular endurance
And a bunch more!
Curing Obesity
Mike H. Age 12
It is often thought that adolescent obesity is caused or hastened by physical inactivity. Research reveals that this stock notion is completely untrue. While physical activity is a must for youngsters, research indicates that (believe it or not) obese children are just as active as lean children. Research also indicates that strength training - not physical activity - is the single most effective exercise method for reversing adolescent obesity. This along with proper eating habits can dramatically alter a child's body composition.
Public School Study In one of our public school studies, the under fit and over fat fifth graders who participated in a basic and brief strength training program gained significantly more muscle and lost twice as much fat as a matched group of students who did not perform strength exercise. Perhaps most important, the strength trained students made such noticeable physical improvements that the strength exercises were subsequently included in the standard physical education program.
